I have over twenty-five years experience with academic, popular, activist, K-12 and science writing, editing, teaching and research, and am looking for free-lance work in these areas.
Articles and book manuscripts - I can write, research, edit, and proofread.
Brochures, flyers, booklets, power point presentations, Web site content - I can create,
edit and produce these for your organization.
Non-native English speakers - I can provide proof-reading and editing for your
English language academic and professional work.
Write
I have been writing scholarly and popular articles since the early 1980s for journals, magazines and newsletters. I co-authored a college-level textbook on conservation of natural resources in the early 1990s, and co-authored a series of junior-high level geography books.
I can write in a number of styles from 'high science' to humor, and can also create and write pamphlets, flyers, brochures, power point presentations, and Web site content. My particular skill is in 'translating' science and environmental issues into language that the reading public can understand and enjoy.

Teach
I have taught at the college and university level for over 25 years at Rutgers University, Miami of Ohio, University of Kentucky, and Lexington (KY) Community College. I have also given many presentations to K-12 classes and to Scout groups. Topic areas: Geography, Human Ecology, Environmental Studies, Cave Conservation and Protection.
I am developing an online course, Cave Conservation Online, in cooperation with the Conservation Section of the National Speleological Society (NSS).
& Research
In order to win in the environmental arena, arguments must be fact-based and supported by well-established experts. For the past seventeen years, I have - as a team-member with others - been providing the needed research and expert back-up for numerous environmental issues in Kentucky.
These issues include cave and karst protection; watershed protection; mountain-top removal mining; protection of cave and surface biota; and the potential impacts of proposed development projects, including coal-fired power plants, new interstate highways, industrial 'parks,' and a proposed federal bioresearch lab.
I do excellent research and report-writing to high standards, with every i dotted and t crossed and with each and every caption, credit, and citation in place.
